Preservation.

Someone told me today that, when you really let people in, it gives them power over you and then they have the ability to hurt you.

Yes.

That’s true.

It’s a fact. It’s not like I could have argued with them. Because to let people in is to allow them to become a part of you. Then they can leave.

When you’ve experienced that, the next thing you want to do is to not let anyone else get that close. It’s self preservation.

And it makes total sense.

But…. Oh you’ll miss out. No, really, you will.

And, no matter what you do, you’re going to get hurt. Guaranteed.
